Ammo Prices Q4 2026: What Bulk Buyers Actually Pay

In October 2026, common bulk range ammo was listed at roughly 49 to 76 cents per round at large US online retailers (for example 49 cents median for PMC X-Tac 5.56 M855 and 49 cents for PMC Bronze .223), and most listed prices did not change during the month: of 67 listings we could compare from the first days to the last days of October, 38 were flat, 22 rose and 7 fell.

Data period: 2026-10-01 to 2026-10-30 (30 daily checks). Next update: November 2026.

This report is built from our own daily price checks, not from a third-party price site. We record the public listed price and stock status of the same products, in the same pack sizes, at four large US online ammo retailers every morning. It covers 34 products and 4,846 price observations. Our own prices are left out on purpose. We are an ammo retailer, so read this as a retailer's look at listed prices for the products we track.

Median cost per round, October 2026

Prices are listed prices before shipping and tax, in US cents per round, in-stock listings only. "In stock" is the share of all daily checks where the listing could be bought that day.

Hunting calibers in the dataset (.35 Remington, .350 Legend, 6.5 Creedmoor, .25-06 and others) ran from about 125 to 250 cents per round, as expected for 20-round boxes of soft-point hunting loads.

What the numbers say

  • Availability was the bigger problem than price. Across every product and retailer, a listing was in stock on 55% of daily checks. Buckshot was the tightest: in stock only 30% of the time. 5 of the 34 products, including Aguila Colibri .22 LR and Fiocchi Defense Dynamics 00 buckshot, were not in stock at any of the four retailers on any day in October.
  • A bigger pack often did not mean a lower per-round price. When the same retailer sold the same load in a box and in a 500-plus round case on the same day, the median per-round saving was under 1 percent for 7 of the 8 products where we could compare. Several retailers price a case as a stack of boxes. Check the per-round number before assuming the case is the deal.
  • Remanufactured 9mm was the low-cost outlier. BVAC 115 grain remanufactured 9mm listed at 23 cents per round in 500-round packs, far below new defensive 9mm. Read remanufactured vs new ammo before you buy reman for anything but practice.
  • Defensive ammo costs about three times remanufactured range ammo. Speer Gold Dot LE 9mm ran a median of 60 to 80 cents per round, against 23 cents for remanufactured range 9mm (one retailer listed it).

Methodology

Source: our own price-check crawler, which visits the public product pages of four large US online ammo retailers once a day, at a polite rate (at least 2.5 seconds between requests to a site), obeying each site's robots rules. It reads only the public listed price, pack size and stock status. Retailers are anonymized in the dataset as R1 to R4. No data from AmmoSeek or any other price-comparison site is used.

Matching: each listing is matched to a specific product by manufacturer part number or by title, caliber, grain and pack size. Low-confidence matches are dropped. Price per round = listed price divided by rounds in the pack. Medians use in-stock listing-days only, so a product that was in stock more often counts more. Shipping, tax, coupons, membership pricing and card fees are not included, and they change what you actually pay.

Limits: this covers the roughly three dozen products we track, not the whole market. Some loads were checked at only one or two retailers (see the Retailers column). Out-of-stock listings have no usable price. October is one month; we will extend this report through December 2026.
