5.56x45mm NATO Ammo

5.56x45mm NATO is the US military rifle cartridge and the most common chambering for AR-15s. It's what most people buy by the case for carbine classes, drills and range days.

We carry four 62-grain loads. PMC X-Tac 556K is a green-tip FMJ that PMC rates at 2,920 fps from a 16-inch barrel. Federal American Eagle XM855BK150 is an M855 FMJ in 150-round boxes and 600-round cases. Lake City LC556M855-500 is an SS109/M855 FMJ in 250 and 500-round cases. MKE AM8303 is SS109 ball built to the NATO STANAG 4172 standard, packed 450 rounds to a bag or 2,250 to a case.

M855 and SS109 bullets have a steel penetrator, and some indoor ranges don't allow them. A 5.56 rifle can also fire .223 Remington, but not always the other way around.
